1.98€
The Cistus includes many members of the genus Cistus, especially for the Frankincense Cistus, (its Latin name in the Eastern Mediterranean is Cistus creticus (Cristus the Cretan) while in the Western Mediterranean it is called Cistus ladanopherum). Other names: incense, hook, aladano, alytaria, tame rabbit, tame kistari, akissaro, ajikaros. They are small shrubs, fragrant and dense, up to 1 m in height, with large rose-lilac flowers that last only a short time but do not come out all together, native to Asia and Europe. They belong to the Kistidae family and are commonly called Rock Rose. They are particularly aromatic plants and exude a resinous aroma. The leaves have glandular hairs that during June - August secrete a commeoritin, which is called ladanum. This resin shows a strong antimicrobial effect and mainly antiviral. The herb acts as an astringent, expectorant, anti-catarrhal and anti-dysenteric, also has good effects against toothache and tetanus insomnia, inhibits benign abscesses. Its use is also reported for hard tumors of the uterus and for tumors of the anus, in nasal polyps and cancerous ulcers.
