Teucrium is a genus of perennial plants of the Lamiaceae family. Genus members are commonly known as germanders. These species are herbs, shrubs or semi-woody, with dense fluffy vegetation that reach a height of 30 cm. Its leaves are gray, oval, toothed, fluffy. Its flowers are white and yellow (or even purple in some species) in summer and autumn, in inflorescences with rounded heads. We find it native throughout Greece, with an aromatic odor and a bitter taste. One species is Teucrium polium (Teucrium polium) which is also found in Crete (especially in the area of Lasithi, on Mount Dikti).
